Thanksgiving a time of thanks for all the things we have. For me I thank God for working in me to become a Christian, which in itself covers much of what I have and value. I can fully realize that because I have not been a Christian all my life. In fact most of my life was without Christ. Up to about when I was 14 years old I did not believe that God existed. That was a time when I was uncertain about many things especially how the universe came to be and what happens after death. These two questions on certain occasions consumed my mind and all I could think about were these two things. Many people gave me answers to these things but I could not find peace in them. Of these included God’s creation of the universe and Heaven-Hell. I saw this, at first, as an excuse people made up who are too lazy to think and try to solve the issue. However, as I tried to solve the issue and find a solution over ten years, I could not find one that works. My life remained uncertain and felt like I could find no truth. It was a horrible feeling.
Then one night my neighbor invited me to go to church. It was my first time and I enjoyed it. So as time went by I got comfortable with God and eventually I realized that compared to all the other solutions to my problem the one in the Bible makes the most sense. When I became a Christian that uncertainty that plagued me was slowly lifted as I realized that there are things I can be certain about like salvation for one. Having a life of certainty is so relaxing compared to one lacking it. Along with this being a Christian had brought me many other things like friends, confidence and a sense of importance. I never really had those things before. And for all these things I can truly be thankful to God.
